Bachelors- or masters-level statistical programmers support CBC projects by concentrating in biostatistical computing. Data preparation:  Collection, cleansing and standardization of disparate data sets to allow for additional analyses performed by the Data Analyst or senior data analysts.

Exploratory data analysis:  Conducting data interrogation exercises on a wide range of data types, including client transactional data, consumer and business demographic data, and market research data.  The primary goal of such activities is discovering business opportunities to solve client needs.

General Summary:

Works effectively as part of a project team (which may include an investigator, biostatistician, data base expert, and programmer) providing expertise, leadership and training and/or mentoring related to data collection, database development, statistical analysis, and presentation of data. Ability to work on and provide leadership for several projects or several aspects of one project simultaneously is essential.

Specific Responsibilities Include:

Bachelors- or masters-level statistical programmers support CBC projects by concentrating in biostatistical computing. They are creative and efficient in using the SAS and S/R programming languages (e.g., SAS data step and macro languages). They have a deep understanding of tabling, graphing, and report functions, and they can use the standard statistical procedures effectively. SPs are also skilled programmers willing and able to pick-up the most appropriate software package for the job. They are capable of developing and maintaining software tools for general use within the CBC and the Department as a whole.
