Biostatistician

The Biostatistics Section in the Department of Quantitative Health Sciences at the Cleveland Clinic has several openings for M.S.-level biostatisticians (either experienced or new graduates).

Our teams employ outstanding biostatisticians and statistical programmers who are involved in health research and some teaching. Members work within teams to collaborate with investigators throughout the Clinic by providing expertise and effort in designing new studies, developing databases, analyzing data and interpreting results, and sharing in the responsibilities and rewards of presentations and publications.

Masters-level biostatistical scientists collaborate directly with physicians and other health science researchers. They work on all phases of research, from planning studies to co-authoring scientific presentations and papers. They make creative use of existing statistical methods and computing, have a mature understanding of the broad role of biostatistics in health science research, and have excellent communication skills. Specifically, they carry out data manipulations, perform statistical analyses in SAS and R, develop SAS macros and R functions, create statistical graphics, and write reports and sections of manuscripts. They work well in a team environment. Those with less experience are guided by experienced team leaders and team mates. Those with substantial experience provide mentoring and formal supervision, and they teach in seminars and short courses around the Clinic.

Clinical Outcomes Analyst II

This position exists to provide analytic support to the Population Care Management & Prevention (PCMP) department, Care Management Institute (CMI) and operational improvement projects. The primary intent is to improve clinical, service and financial performance of Kaiser Permanente of Ohio. The job is primarily responsible for development of measures, analysis and report generation for PCMP projects and CMI priority areas. The job assists in the definition of outcome measures and extracts data for population outcome studies. The position is also responsible for providing support for quality improvement projects.

Essential Functions:
• Provide analytic support for CMI Network national activities, such as data collection, analysis, interpretation and reporting of complex data
• Provide advanced PC and mainframe computer support (complex programming, developing and maintaining databases, compiling spreadsheets, presenting graphics and applying other statistical tools) to support disease management initiatives
• Develop and produce reports and analysis for internal regional use
• Support quality improvement projects: surveys, reports, proposals, data collection and analysis
• Orient and provide oversight to Clinical Outcomes Analyst I during critical projects

Basic Qualifications:
• Five years experience in outcomes measurement, program evaluation, operations analysis and/or information systems development
• Knowledge of health care delivery system and medical terminology
• Must be proficient in SAS, SQL, and Microsoft Excel and Access
• Must have strong organizational and time management skills
• Bachelor's Degree required

Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience in managed care setting preferred
• Some experience with Business Objects and/or Crystal Reports a plus
• Master's Degree in Public Health, Statistics or related field with disciplinary training in epidemiology, biostatistics, health service

What You'll Do 
The Data Analyst will work with our programming team to assist in quality control of data in house as well as data provided from various clients.  In addition, they will be responsible for merging data from different sources (ASCII, text, CSV, Excel, etc) into a single integrated dataset in a format that is usable by the software application.  The applicant should be familiar with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Access.  The Data Analytics Department is also responsible for pushing SQL updates (insert, delete, and update statements) into the production servers.

This includes 100+ models that determine mail depths associated with $200MM in Catalog & Related spend and that supports segmentation associated with a $300MM email business.   This business has existing modeling in place and this associate specifically will be charged with advancing the analytics agenda to optimize a marketing cadence with very heavy contact points across both catalogs and emails.  This position manages a Statistical Analyst.

         Develop statistical models to enhance catalog and email mailing efficiency with a focus on modeling impact of multiple mailings in a heavy contact frequency including the impact of multiple additional contact points such as email.
